Turkish side Trabzonspor are preparing a January bid for Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov, according to Sky Sports.

Berbatov has failed to hit the heights of last season at Craven Cottage and has even been stripped of the captaincy in recent weeks with Scott Parker taking over the armband.

The Bulgarian striker is a doubt for Fulham’s trip to West Ham this afternoon but the West London club may have to plan without their main striker for good if Trabzonspor get their way.

The Turks are struggling to keep up with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce on and off the field and Berbatov is just one of a long list of big name players that are on their agenda this winter.

“Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov has been on our agenda,” Club president Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu said.

“We want better and better quality and are endeavouring to add that to our squad.

“We are pleased with our team, but there are weaknesses and we will supplement with whatever we need to do.

“We have the names of a few players, but I do not want to reveal them.”
