West Brom scraped a draw against Everton at The Hawthorns and avoided a last minute loss when Silvan Distan’s goal was disallowed.
Gareth Barry slammed a shot which was cleared off the line but fell to Distin who put it in the back of the net. However referee Michael Oliver disallowed the goal for offside.
The first half had started off slowly with only half chances falling to Bryan Oviedo and Zoltan Gera at either end. However in the 41st minute Everton’s Kevin Mirallas ran onto a knock down from Romelu Lukaku, and slotted it past West Brom keeper Ben Foster.
The second half started off pretty uneventfully until substitute Victor Anichebe nearly got on the end of a cross from Nicolas Anelka at the near post. It took until the 71st minute for The Baggies to strike through Diego Lugano, who headed in from close range off a corner.

Lukaku doesn’t look nearly as badass with short hair
— Sam Flint (@Flintshirelad) January 20, 2014
Lukaku has cut his hair! Could that be a mistake – his dreads were the source of his power 😮

I think that PA announcer at West Brom needs to work on his Spanish pronunciation.
— Marvin Spall (@yateley7) January 20, 2014
Did West Brom just repeat an announcement in Spanish? Pepe Mel must feel right at home now…

Two Spanish managers, 11 non-UK players, but West Brom-Everton indisputably English so far. Lots of running, not much reward.

Expected Coleman to score there on current form

Gera truly awful yet again. Get Amalfitano on at half time.

Gera needs to wake up! Shocking start to the game from him! #wba

Mirallas spends all match not passing to Lukaku. Scores goal off Lukaku assist.
— Jake (@ramnwolfsclthng) January 20, 2014
Mirallas is so much more dangerous from the left or through the middle, limited on the right
— Lawrence (@Lozefc) January 20, 2014
There was not one Everton fan who thought that was going to stay out then. #Anichebe

Anichebe missed that on purpose….#FormerClubRules
