Valencia are ready to offer Manchester City £20m to persuade them to let go of Edin Dzeko, Daily Star reports.
The striker only has a year left on his contract and is yet to receive a new one from his club.
Coach Manuel Pellegrini wants him to stay, but Spanish club Valencia – recently taken over by Singapore businessman Peter Lim – will break the bank to sign their man.
Lim is looking towards a huge summer spending spree once the club’s debts have been settled by their new chairman.
And Lim see Dzeko as the perfect addition in order to rebuild his side, readying up an offer that could rise to £25m with add-ons.
The Citizens are recently going through a mini-exodus, with news over the futures of Yaya Toure and James Milner in serious doubt.
Dzeko played a pivotal role in Manchester City’s title winning charge, scoring five goals in their last four fixtures to lift the Premier League trophy for the second time in three years.
He was however neglected earlier in the season, with Pellegrini opting for the Aguero – Negredo combination.
Valencia will try to tempt Dzeko with the guarantee of first-team football, as well as a pay rise incentive.
It is, however, understood that the City hierarchy are writing up a new tw0-year deal to keep him at the Etihad.
