Moussa Dembele, Tottenham Hotspur

Andre Villas-Boas is delighted with the progress of new signing, Moussa Dembele following the Belgian’s summer transfer from Fulham. The Tottenham Hotspur website reports.

Dembele began to justify his £15million price-tag when he scored on his debut for Tottenham with a superb long-range effort against Norwich last Saturday.

But Robert Snodgrass’ equaliser spoiled the welcome party, as the Canaries earned a point to sum-up Spurs’ unconvincing start to the season.

The side is going through a transitional period with Villas-Boas selling Harry Redknapp favourites, Rafael Van der Vaart and Luka Modric and bringing in the likes of Dembele and USA international, Clint Dempsey- also from Fulham.

Villas-Boas said: "Mousa looked extremely good and it was a great finish.”

“He's a player who has tremendous technical skills, very creative playing forward and he really improved our game in the second half”, he added.

Spurs originally saw FC Porto’s Joao Moutinho as an ideal replacement for Modric, but Dembele’s creative influence in the Norwich match means he is capable of filling the Croatian’s boots.

"He's a player we can count on for the season", the Portuguese claimed.
