Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that his side can still beat Chelsea to the Premier League title, according to reports from the Express.

The Gunners will face the Blues in a top of a table clash on Sunday, and Wenger’s troops hope that they can get three points in order to cut Chelsea’s lead to seven.

If Jose Mourinho’s men do prevail at the Emirates this weekend, it means that another victory would all but make the Blues champions with five games left to play.

But Wenger is not giving up on the chase, and will still look to triumph to stay above rivals Manchester United, who are only a point behind his side.

Prompted whether his team are the only ones that can catch Chelsea, he replied: “No, Manchester United still have a chance as well.

“There was a turning point last week with United not beating Chelsea.

“That was a very important moment of the season for the Premier League.

“Now what we can do is get closer to them and we have that opportunity to do it.

“It still means even if we beat them, mathematically they are still in a very strong position. But you never know.”

However, the Frenchman will need to rewrite history to catch the current leaders, as Wenger has failed to beat Mourinho in 12 attempts.

His latest defeat came earlier this season when Chelsea overcame the Gunners 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, with Eden Hazard and Diego Costa scoring for the Blues.

“We were a few times close to beating them,” Wenger added.

“(Mourinho) plays strong teams. Saying that the result on Sunday will just be down to the performance on the day.

“We have an opportunity at home to beat them and we need to take it.

“Of course we have a good run of form, good belief an good solidarity.

“We have passed many tests recently. We have another one on Sunday that we want to pass.”

Meanwhile the announcement for the PFA Player of the Year is set to be announced this weekend, with two players from Chelsea – Diego Costa and Hazard – and Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, among the candidates to receive the accolade.
