West Ham United have agreed a deal for Velez Sarsfield striker Mauro Zarate, who finished top scorer in the Argentine top league, according to Skyports.
The club were in contact with the former Birmingham player last week and have reached an agreement to sign Zarate which could be officially announced in the next 48 hours.
The Argentinian star looks set for a three-year contract move to Upton Park as he looks set to become the Hammers first signing of the transfer market.
Sam Allardyce’s future has also been given a boost after the club decided not to part ways with him despite finishing the season in 13th place after much criticism for the Hammer’s fans.
Sources revealed: “Mauro is very excited about a move to England, he enjoyed his spell last time with Birmingham and is ready to play in the Premier League again.”
Zarate scored the most goals in the league this past season, netting 13 times after making his move away from Italy with spells at Lazio and Inter Milan.
