West Ham United are looking to make a move for Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham, talkSPORT reports.
The Hammers are currently facing a mini crisis at the back after James Collins picked up a red card against Tottenham last weekend and James Tomkins unlikely to recover from a hamstring injury for the clash against Crystal Palace.
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is extremely keen to bring in the Belgium international, and may push for a transfer quickly in order to fend off interest as well as have him available for selection come Saturday evening.
It would be a major coup for the Irons boss, beating the likes of Arsenal and Spurs to the former Ajax star’s signature.
The 25-year-old joined Atletico Madrid only a year ago, but had a difficult time breaking into the first team as his side became La Liga champions.
Alderweireld was also selected to represent his country in this year’s FIFA World Cup, playing four games as Belgium reached the quarter-finals.
