West Ham record signing Andy Carroll may not return to first team action until the end of January or early February, according to the clubs co-owner David Gold.

Gold tweeted that the striker is still three weeks away from full fitness and even then the crocked forward will still need to find match form to be able to last 90 minutes.

Carroll has been out since the end of last season and despite his injury the Hammers decided to spend £15million on the former Newcastle and Liverpool striker, with fans demand a vital part of it.

The East London club are struggling for goals despite netting thrice against West Brom yesterday, although the Baggies still stole a point from Upton Park heaping even more pressure on Sam Allardyce.

West Ham have made a striker their number one priority in January and they seriously need someone to drag them out of their current position, second  bottom of the Premier League going into the new year with their next four games being away from home in all competitions.
