Everton boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that striker Nikica Jelavic could be sold in the January transfer window, as reported by Sky Sports.

West Ham have been linked with a move for the Croatian striker who has failed to break into the Toffees starting XI over the past 12 months, especially this season with Romelu Lukaku impressing on loan from Chelsea.

The Hammers are desperate for a striker and they are willing to go in for Jelavic despite the 28 year old rejecting them for Everton when he left Rangers.

Martinez has revealed that he could sell the striker as he knows he is desperate for football with it being a World Cup year.

“We’ve had a couple of enquiries from two different clubs for one of our players,” Martinez said.

“Nikica Jelavic is someone who we have made it very clear to – we’ve had a conversation and he has the World Cup around the corner.

“He needs to be playing minutes and we understand that. We’ll always try to give it a good assessment of the situation but that’s not affecting anyone at the club.”
