Out of favour Wigan striker Mauro Boselli is hopeful of a January move to Italy after failing to adapt to English football, as reported by Sky Sports News.

Boselli arrived at the DW Stadium in 2010 for over £6million and despite being an Argentinean international, struggled to get in Roberto Martinez’ squad.

Two loan spells later and it seems time in England may well be up for the former Boca Juniors man, who was stopped from leaving the club in the summer by the Wigan board and management.

"Before the start of this season my agent told me that Genoa wanted to take me back but Wigan blocked a sale," Boselli told calciomercato.it.

"I would have liked to go back to Genoa and show my true value, because the first time I had the misfortune to get injured and had little opportunity to impress.

"Other Italian clubs have also asked about me, but Wigan said 'no'.

"It is still my desire to play in Serie A because Italian football is more suited to my characteristics."
