Remarkably substituted on for the penalty shootout, Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul’s two saves broke Costa Rican hearts and sent the Netherlands through to the World Cup Semi-Finals. Louis van Gaal’s gamble paid off as the 26 year old made match-winning stops from Bryan Ruiz and Michael Umana.
However, whether it is because he ended Costa Rica’s fairy tale journey or due to his gamesmanship antics, Krul has now become one of the most vilified figures at the World Cup. Football fans took to Twitter to outline their contempt and disgust for the 26 year old’s actions.
Despite participating for less than ten minutes, Krul may now be the villain of the World Cup.
And Holland are disgraceful. Hate them. Diving, cynical fouls, disgusting from Tim Krul in the penalties. What a team of horrible players

Literally hate Krul. He sounds like a mean Harry Potter character from Slytherin.

Krul is the real villain of this world cup and he's only officially played for a few seconds.
