It's something that's probably beginning to manifest itself at the back of Liverpool fans' minds - though they'd hate to admit it -  but there is every chance that Everton could finish above them this season in the Premier League.

After losing to Leicester City last night, the Reds lost further ground in the race for the Champions League spots and with Everton flying at the moment - a switch in position could be on the cards.

Just five points separates the two great Merseyside rivals in the table at the moment and - with Ronald Koeman's team flying and Jurgen Klopp's in free-fall - Jamie Carragher is certainly worried.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football yesterday evening, the legendary ex-Liverpool player addressed such fears, before repeating the sentiment this afternoon on Sky Sports News HQ:

"I’m more worried about Everton catching us at the moment.

"Of course it is a fear (that Liverpool can finish outside the top four)."

Certainly, Everton fans will be more than happy to hear such a prediction whilst the men from Anfield have got a fair amount of soul searching to do right now. Klopp is certainly under pressure, but that will be nothing compared to the pressure he could be under if the Toffees come surging past and into a European spot at the expense of Liverpool. The two play each other on April 1st - and that could be a classic.
