The Greek ace is set to available for a cut-price £1m fee this winter with his current contract due to expire at the end of the season.
Tigers chief Steve Bruce is known to be keen to secure attacking reinforcements in a bid to boost his side’s survival hopes.
Samaras is seen as a viable option, with the once Manchester City forward possessing a wealth of experience.
The 28-year-old has three Scottish top tier medals and one Scottish Cup win to his name, as well as 70 caps at senior international level.
Samaras has been a Celtic player for six years, but recently admitted that he does not know where his future lies:
“I don’t know what the next stage of my career will bring,” he said.
“Money has never been a motivating factor in my career because I could have left Celtic and signed for a team with more money. I’ve had offers, most from teams in England, who have offered more money than Celtic.
“That proves I’ve always put money into the background. How will things develop? I don’t know.”
