Chelsea sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a 2-0 victory on the road against Championship outfit Wolves, putting the Blues in a strong position to clinch a domestic double.

Having stormed through the Premier League this season, Chelsea will be aiming to transfer that form into the FA Cup but they looked a little short today- as at times it really looked like an upset could occur, which would have fit the day following the exits of Burnley and Leicester City at the hands of Lincoln City and Millwall.

In the end though, Chelsea had enough about them to secure their place amongst the final eight sides in the competition and will have their name in the hat for today's draw, which will take place after Manchester United's clash with Blackburn Rovers.

Here, we're looking back at the match in the form of images, selecting five pictures that tell the story of Chelsea's win at the Molineux.

Fans dream of an upset

Wolves had already claimed the scalps of Stoke City and Liverpool in the FA Cup this season and were dreaming of a hat-trick as they hosted Premier League leaders Chelsea, with Lincoln City and Millwall's victories earlier in the day providing confidence.

As 'high-ho Wolverhampton' rung out around Molineux, Wolves fans were set for an exciting afternoon and they were ever so close to a perfect start.

Saville hits the post

With just five minutes on the clock, George Saville almost sent the hosts into delirium as he rattled the post after being left unmarked inside the Chelsea box, with Matt Doherty blazing the rebound over the top of the Blues' bar.

It was the closest Wolves would come to a goal all day and it showed the Premier League leaders they would face a fight throughout the ninety minutes.

Penalty shout turned down

Wolves were furious later in the first-half when Willian felled Andi Weimann inside the 18-yard but Jon Moss waved away the protests for a spot-kick, with replays showing the official's decision was favourable towards Chelsea- so much for home field advantage.

It was a huge moment in the game and Wolves will wonder what might have happened if the decision had gone their way, with Paul Lambert understandably raging on the touch-line.

Pedro Rodriguez didn't excel in the match, filling in at left wing-back with Marcos Alonso absent, but the former Barcelona man provided the breakthrough midway through the second-half by netting the opening goal- and continuing his record of scoring in every round of the FA Cup this season.

With the goal, Wolves had a mountain to climb and it was always going to be difficult for the Championship outfit to force their way back into the match.

Costa seals the win

A minute before the end of normal time, Diego Costa brought an end to his goal drought with a smart finish that sealed the victory for Antonio Conte's Premier League leaders- ensuring that their name would be in the hat for the quarter-finals.

It was only Costa's second goal since the turn of the year and the Blues will be hopeful the goal will provide their Spanish striker with a big confidence boost.
