Burnley picked up a cracking point against runaway league leaders Chelsea on Sunday, proving they have what it takes to be competitive in the Premier League.

Chelsea just couldn't break down the Turf Moor side and failed to move twelve points clear of second placed Tottenham Hotspur after they dropped points at Anfield on Saturday.

Rushing to a 1-0 lead within 10 minutes through Pedro, Chelsea could do nothing about the sublime equalising free-kick from Robbie Brady.

It was an entertaining encounter in poor conditions, a real blood and thunder match-up.

Here are FIVE lessons we took from the match across the ninety minutes...

Michael Keane is a smashing defender

Michael Kane showed again he's one of the brightest defenders around with a top performance against Chelsea's attacking force. Solid from start to finish, the Blues simply couldn't find a way past the defender.

If he can keep that up then there's no doubt that a big Premier League side will come calling sooner rather than later.

Robbie Brady is still a top-flight class act

There's a lot of pressure on Robber Brady to succeed at Turf Moor given he is the Clarets' record signing but if he keeps hitting free-kicks like the one he fired in on Sunday then nobody is going to have any complaints about his contribution.

It was a superb way to mark his first start for the club and showed why Sean Dyche was willing to break records to sign him from Norwich City.

Pedro is proving crucial

Pedro's opener was his sixth goal in nine matches, proving he is currently one of Antonio Conte's top performers. With two assists also in that time, no-one else is quite getting the job done right now that the Spanish winger.

He's made himself a vital component of this Chelsea side, currently keeping the likes of Willian out of the starting XI completely.

On a rare off day for Diego Costa, Pedro's contribution was more crucial than ever.

Chelsea aren't always amazing

It's nice to know that Chelsea are human after all and can be denied by the so-called weaker teams in the division. Only Spurs have been able to get close to the Stamford Bridge side recently and they're no slouches either.

Burnley's performance on Sunday gives the rest of the Premier League hope that Chelsea can be gotten to in the closing months of the season. The Blues have a big target on their back now and must cope with the expectation that being England's best team brings.

Burnley haven't been beaten at home in the Premier League since November. Extending that against Chelsea, if the Blues can't do it then what hope does the rest of the division have?

It must be a great time to be a season ticket holder at Turf Moor, knowing that your team is going to put in an incredible committed performance no matter what.

If they can build on their away form next season then big things beckon for Sean Dyche and the Clarets.
