It speaks volumes that Jason Lee was of course more famous for being the proud owner of a pineapple on his head rather than a decent footballer, but regardless of his barnet, he was never good enough to cut it in the Premier League.
Of course, Lee most certainly wasn’t helped by the remorseless stick he received from Baddiel and Skinner on Fantasy Football that catalyzed thousands of fans to slaughter him across grounds up and down the country, but they certainly had a point.
Lee, who has since racked up a journeyman resume to even challenge the likes of Akinbiyi and Steve Claridge, was of course a striker. And in the Premier League, he was consistently rubbish at scoring goals.
Despite a two month spell in which he teased us into thinking he could fill the shoes of the departed Stan Collymore, the real Jason Lee took over, and loan spells out to Charlton and Grimsby, suggest quite how far off the mark Lee ended up falling from the Premier League.
