Arrogance is a quality common in the majority of footballers playing at the highest level; the knowledge that they are overpaid, under-worked and don't mind bragging about it can cause anger in many, yet that doesn't tell the whole story.

There are plenty of examples of players doing plenty for charity, Craig Bellamy for one, who are disliked because of their on-pitch persona and the caricature way they are presented in the media.

Nevertheless, while we all know that positive stories do not sell papers, negative ones most certainly do and there are still plenty of them out there. Sometimes we can get the wrong impression of a player as a person, but with the ones listed below, it seems one of those rare occasions when their character, no matter how hard they try to suppress, just shines through and it's fair to say that they think quite a lot of themselves, certainly more than their ability is worth in some cases.
