With Jurgen Klopp now being in the Liverpool hot seat for over a year, it would be fair to say that he has had enough time to make the squad he inherited from Brendan Rodgers his own. That said, many critics will still ask - is it a squad that has enough depth to go all the way in a race for the Premier League title?

After making 11 changes in the F.A. Cup 3rd Round for the home tie against Plymouth, it was slightly embarrassing for Klopp that the League Two outfit managed to hold them to a goalless draw and subsequently earn a replay at Home Park.

It showed that perhaps the kids aren't alright and if Liverpool are to push Chelsea close this season, they may well have to get a few more faces in before the January transfer window slams shut a week on Tuesday.

With that in mind, let's now take a look at two reported targets who Liverpool should swoop for ahead of the deadline.

Jose Fonte

One department that Jurgen Klopp will have identified as an area of possible improvement is that of centre-back. With the ongoing club vs country row regarding Cameroon's Joel Matip, it's a concern that has become even more pressing in recent weeks.

But that could very well be alleviated by the capture of Jose Fonte from Southampton. With Fonte handing in a transfer request earlier in the month and not featuring in the Saints' EFL Cup Semi-Final win over Liverpool, it seems as if the 33-year-old's days at St Mary's are numbered.

Fonte was linked with a move to Merseyside by Mirror Football last week, and considering his vast Premier League experience, Liverpool would be wise to swoop for the Euro 2016 winner.

Quincy Promes

One of the names that Liverpool were linked with in the build-up to the transfer window is Quincy Promes of Spartak Moscow. The 25-year-old can either play as a midfielder or a winger and is famed for his lightening pace.

The Dutch international has won 14 caps for his country, scoring on two occasions, and has been plying his trade in Moscow for the past two-and-a-half seasons.

With 37 goals in 73 appearances for Spartak, he is finding the net every other game and if he can bring that goal ratio to Liverpool, it would be a massive boost to their title bid.

But his versatility could be the most useful attribute of all. The Dutchman is able to play in all of the attacking positions, meaning he can cover for any absences in the front three.

With Sadio Mane absent, Roberto Firmino struggling for goals and Philippe Coutinho still getting back to fitness, Klopp should move for Promes and put another body into the mix.
