Former England player and manager Glenn Hoddle has hit back at QPR midfielder Joey Barton over his criticism of the England team, as reported by talkSPORT.

Barton lashed out at the FA, claiming that their new commission procedure was pointless and that the current England team are ‘sh*te’.

Hoddle is part of the newly formed panel that will attempt to build a bright future for England’s national side after, starting from the bottom at grassroots and academy level.

The Tottenham legend was unimpressed by Barton’s attention seeking speech at the Leaders in Football conference and claimed that the one cap wonder was foolish in his speech.

“Everyone has got their own opinion but he would not have that opinion if he was in the squad at the moment, put it that way,” Hoddle told talkSPORT.

“It was a foolish thing to say but, at the end of the day, that is Joey and he has got his own agenda.”
