Former Premier League goalkeeper and current ESPN FC football analyst Shaka Hislop believes Engand’s Liverpool contingent will not be able to help keep Suarez quiet in their 2014 World Cup group stage meeting with Uruguay.
The Three Lions were handed a difficult World Cup group with Uruguay, Italy and Costa Rica in the draw on Friday and will be looking at the South American side as arguably their toughest test on route to the knock-out stages.
And Hislop believes that, despite the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Glenn Johnson and Daniel Sturridge all playing with Suarez on a daily basis, there will be nothing they can do to help England keep him at bay when they meet in Sao Paolo in June.
He told Football FanCast: “Luis Suarez’s talent makes him completely unpredictable. We’ve already seen glimpses of that in the Premier League this season.
“It doesn’t matter how well his Liverpool team mates know about him and his game, it won’t make a difference when they face him in Brazil next summer. That’s how good Suarez is.”
Suarez spent the first five games of the season suspended but has since hit the ground running with 14 Premier League goals in ten appearances and is the league’s current top scorer.
The 26-year-old appears to have hit the form of his life ahead of next summer’s World Cup in Brazil and, on current evidence, England will need to be at their very best to prevent him from finding the net against them on June 19.
