It seems the 2016-17 campaign for Liverpool has been two different ones entirely. For most of the 2016 portion of the term, the Reds looked like potential title winners as Jurgen Klopp developed a wonderfully vibrant side during his first full whack at the Premier League.

Still, their form tailed off when the New Year dawned, with Philippe Coutinho injured and Sadio Mane away on African Cup of Nations duty. While things do appear to be turning around for those on Merseyside of late, there's little doubt going from potential challengers for the league to one of the many sides battling it out for Champions League qualification will serve as a disappointment at Anfield.

However, little about Klopp's project suggests their challenge earlier on this season will be the only time they battle at the summit of English football under his stead. In fact, we spoke to Kop legend John Barnes about life under the charismatic German.

Barnes, who is an ambassador for Bonus Code Bets, believes it's crucial the club stick together under the 49-year-old if they're going to make it only a second top four finish since 2008.

''We need to stick together.''

''I’m not getting too despondent now that all of a sudden we’re out of the top top four.''

''We’ve got a great manager, other clubs vying for the fop four have got stronger squads than us, so for us to automatically assume we were going to be in the top four was wrong.''

The 53-year-old warned against creating an element of despondency within the ranks, despite the fact their ambitions for the campaign seem to have dipped somewhat. According to the two-time league and cup winner, you only have to glance over to another side in contention to finish in the top four to see how important it is Liverpool stick together.

''You look at at the disharmony now at Arsenal, with some of fans calling for Arsene Wenger’s head, that could work against them."

"So I feel that because Liverpool still have that unity and harmony, we have to stick with what we’ve got and keep believing."

Out of all cup competitions, of course, the Reds have just 13 games left in Klopp's first full season in charge, currently sitting just one point below the fourth-placed Gunners. In what could be a huge game in deciding the complexion of those who qualify for the Champions League, Arsene Wenger's side travel to Anfield on Saturday 4th March.

It promises to be a cracker.
