Premier League Preview: Chelsea vs Swansea

Oscar Having been in action at the Emirates on Monday night it is likely Jose Mourinho will make a few changes for the visit of Swansea.

Whereas the Chelsea boss has no new injuries to contend with, Swansea boss Michael Laudrup travels to Stamford Bridge without the services of Nathan Dyer and Michu while Garry Monk, Michel Vorm and Alan Tate are all still out.

The Blues will be hoping to use their fine home record to further cement themselves amongst the frontrunners in Premier League title race. Swansea – who are winless on Boxing Day since 2007 – will hope to thrust themselves into the upper half of the table.

    FFC Predicts: Chelsea 2-0 Swansea

Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea do not lose at home. Swansea’s form at best has been patchy and it’s unlikely they will be able to cope with the kaleidoscopic attacking options the home side have at their disposal. The likes of Oscar, Juan Mata and Andre Schurrle started on the bench against Arsenal and can be counted on to come in and have a big effect.

    Chelsea vs Swansea Pre-Match Stats

Chelsea have been reduced to 10 men in three of their last six meetings with Swansea in all competitions.

Swansea have won just two of the last 13 meetings with Chelsea in all competitions (W2 D5 L6).

Jose Mourinho has won 53 and lost none of his 68 Premier League matches as a manager at Stamford Bridge.

Swansea won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the Capital One Cup semi-final last season.

Chelsea have never lost a Premier League game on December 26 since Jose Mourinho began his first spell at the club.

Chelsea took part in the highest scoring Premier League game on December 26 when they drew 4-4 with Aston Villa in 2007.

Frank Lampard has played more games on December 26 than any other player in Premier League history (15).

Swansea have taken only 38 points from 35 Premier League games in 2013.

Just three of Wilifried Bony’s 10 goals for Swansea (all comps) have come away from home.

Gerhard Tremmel has conceded a goal every 40 minutes on average this season in the Premier League and has a much lower saves to shots ratio (50%) than fellow Swans’ goalkeeper Michel Vorm (67%).
