Fulham vs. Southampton: An Alternative Preview

    Probable Lineups:

fulhamFulham (4-4-1-1): Stekelenburg, Riether, Hangeland, Burn, Richardson, Dejagah, Parker, Sidwell, Kacaniklic, Dempsey, Berbatov

A third successive loss for Fulham puts them firmly in the relegation battle, and it seems like a very long time ago that they were challenging in Europe.  The team with the lowest goal difference this season, Berbatov and co. will have to come out all guns firing to beat an on form Southampton side.

Southampton (4-4-1-1): Boruc, Chambers, Fonte, Yoshida, Shaw, Lallana, Cork, Schneiderlin, Rodriguez, Davis, Lambert

It will be touch and go for Rickie Lambert, who couldn’t make it back in time for the clash with Arsenal.  As Pablo Osvaldo is still suspended, expect Sam Gallagher to fill in.  A good showing against Arsenal last time round will give the Saints a boost against a struggle Fulham outfit.

    What the fans are saying…
    Remember this?

Can Fulham bring back the good old days like this win over Southampton back in 2003?

    Fantasy Football Danger Man

    lallana

Adam Lallana is currently enjoying his amazing form, amassing six goals and assists so far this season. Against a struggling Fulham side and with a very decent run of fixtures, the 7.6 priced midfielder should be drafted into your team as soon as possible.

Fulham have won just three of their last 15 Barclays Premier League games at Craven Cottage (W3 D1 L11).

Southampton have won just one of their last eight Barclays Premier League away games (W1 D4 L3).

Fulham have conceded 14 goals from long-range this season in the Premier League, more than any other side.

The Whites have now gone eight league games without keeping a clean sheet, the longest run without a shutout in the top division.

Under Rene Meulensteen, Fulham have shipped 26 goals in 10 games, more than they conceded under Martin Jol this season in 13 games (24).

James Ward-Prowse has found a teammate with more crosses and corners (46) than any other player.

Southampton players have been caught offside (69) and they caught their opponents offside (91) more often than any other side.

Fulham have conceded only four goals in their last 10 Premier League home games in February.

Steve Sidwell has scored two of Fulham’s three Premier League goals in 2014. His goal tally this season (5) is his highest in a single PL campaign.

Southampton’s last two games have ended 2-2; only one team in Premier League history (Liverpool in September 2002) has drawn three successive matches 2-2.
