    Birmingham City vs Sunderland

Birmingham have been eliminated just once in their last 11 League Cup games at home, being eliminated by Stoke City on penalties in Round 4 last season.

Sunderland have made it through to Round 3 in five of the last six seasons, losing to Brighton and Hove Albion at this stage in 2011.

Birmingham's last defeat to Sunderland at home came in an FA Cup replay in February 2004 - they've won three and drawn two since.

The only previous League Cup tie between the two sides came in Round 3 in 2009/10, with the Black Cats running out 2-0 winners at the Stadium of Light.
