Roberto Mancini’s recent announcement that he will be seeking five new faces to complement his Manchester City squad may have come as little shock to distant onlookers now accustomed to the Premier League champions’ big spending reputation, but the extent of Italian’s recruitment drive is still surprising given the strength in depth at Etihad Stadium. With [...]

Me too! Although I expect we all harbour some reservations about the club when being linked with uninspired signings and struggling to better our rivals. Hopefully by the end of August things we be a bit brighter but how many times have fans said that in the past?!

As a devoted Sunderland fan I often find myself debating the role of my beloved side and wondering how much they can realistically achieve. No doubt such behaviour can be attributed to the majority of thoughtful football lovers all equally concerned by their side’s potential aspirations thanks to the ominous nature of England’s domestic competition. Regardless, [...]

Having secured their top flight existence on a dramatic final day, Queens Park Rangers have wasted no time in recruiting new players as they attempt to establish themselves in the Premier League. With a wealth of new signings, an experienced manager and a group of owners who seem far more in tune with the club’s ambitions, [...]

With August almost upon us and the new Premier League season just weeks away, fans’ attention turns to their beloved clubs and the merits of their latest recruitment policies. It’s an exciting time for supporters as they debate the strengths and weakness of their squads and analyse new signings with meticulous detail. Amidst the tension and [...]

I agree with you about the aspects of history but the majority of today’s players will be unaware of such success and will therefore not be swayed by it as strongly. I’m not sure I can agree with you about the youth team as I doubt Weiss and Guidetti will be given much of a [...]

Not get me wrong, you absolutely were there by merit, but that’s not the point. Your total league points would not normally be so successful but for the usual suspects ie. Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea all having major blips during an unpredictable season. Again you beat the teams put in front of you so [...]

I agree and I think that’s a fair assessment of what most fans expect but again the good aspects of their support are not relevant to this article purely because of its theme, ie. things they need to learn.

Actually I’m a Sunderland fan, just willing to be truthful about my concerns! An article on lessons to be learned is unlikely to praise the club after all.

I’m not sure what you mean but please feel free to tell me where I contradicted myself and will do my best to explain my reasoning.

Regarding your points!: a) naturally fans would be ‘over the moon’ but there are also certain criticisms aimed at the club by fans when they don’t finish in the top 10, despite them having little precedent to do so. b) The rivalry is still extremely passionate regardless of friendly examples. Also the article does mention [...]

Blogs are opinions, not news reports. As a NUFC fan you are not commented upon in this article and at no point is it said that NUFC fans demand European football. It’s about SAFC. The article is about lessons to be learned and therefore is unlikely to sing the praises of a club but rather [...]

Sunderland’s preparations for the new season appear to have hit a wall as the club struggle to attract quality players to justify their lofty ambitions. A new chairman, manager and kit sponsor seemed to signal the beginning of a new era at the Stadium of Light but if their efforts so far this summer are an [...]

Thierry Henry has admitted he wants to return to Arsenal for a third stint in North London but he doesn’t yet know in what capacity manager Arsene Wenger will need his services. As the the club’s record goal scorer the French striker is adored by the Gunners faithful and he has openly admitted his love for [...]

Arsene Wenger has reiterated his desire to keep Robin van Persie at the Emirates Stadium next season but the Dutch striker is not the first player the Frenchman has tried to keep at the club. After forcing the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Thierry Henry into one final stint in North London with mixed results, many [...]

Tom Cleverly, Jonny Evans, Darren Fletcher, Danny Welbeck to name but a few and that’s not taking into account the last two decades that United have dominated while continually updating their side. The point is that United have found success on both fronts, be it buying or developing players and that’s the aim for City [...]

Manchester City’s dramatic title victory was the most breathtaking finale to a Premier League season in history but the record books show more than just a Blue Moon rising. The reality is City are not the first team to try to break the top flight’s often predictable mould and supplant Manchester United as the dominant force [...]
