I can see Snodgrass moving on in this next transfer window, Bates will look to line his own pocket (again) and Warnock may need some of that money to field 11 men by the looks of things. West Ham would be the ideal place for him to establish himself as a Premier League player rather [...]

Thumbnail Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola was once again on the touchline barking out orders on Tuesday afternoon as he managed a group of Indesit Football Talent competition winners at The Emirates Stadium in the pouring summer rain. I caught up with him post-match to talk all things Chelsea, Champions League and his managerial future. Did you enjoy [...]

ThumbnailHaving never played for Arsenal at The Emirates Stadium, ex-Gunner Robert Pires was on the sidelines coaching a group of lucky Indesit Football Talent winners on Tuesday. The former French international sat down afterwards with us to talk all things Arsenal, Robin van Persie and France. Did it feel good to be kitted out in the Arsenal [...]

Thumbnail We all know that it has been non-stop controversy since Carlos Tevez arrived on our shores in August 2006, whether it is third party ownership, contract disputes or just refusing to take part, Monday night’s possible title deciding Manchester derby could well be added to that list. It may well have been overhyped by the [...]

Thumbnail A strong end to a difficult season must give Lion’s fans reason for an optimistic summer. There seems to be a magical word in the Championship and it begins with ‘M’. When teams have it they are feared, without it they can stumble. Southampton had it and then Reading found it. Momentum! As the season [...]

  • Thumbnail Monday night’s Manchester derby looks as if it may decide the destination of the Premier League trophy for this season, with City and United separated by just three points with three games to go. A home win is vital for the blue half of Manchester as they are trailing their rivals, and I feel there [...]

Thumbnail Sir Alex Ferguson is on the verge of a surprising bid for £10million-rated Hoffenheim midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson; who has impressed on loan at Swansea City since January; according to the Daily Mirror . The Manchester United manager was at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday to watch the Swans thrilling 4-4 draw with Wolves, a game that saw [...]

Thumbnail Big spending Manchester City are all already planning their summer transfer targets as Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia becomes the first man that Roberto Mancini wants, according to The Metro . With only the unimpressive Stefan Savic and unreliable Kolo Toure as cover for first choice centre backs Joleon Lescott and Vincent Kompany, Mancini has made that [...]

I agree, Leeds were on the brink of having a top side in this league but threw it away with the likes of Johnson, Howson and Gradel. You have to spend money to make money Mr Bates!

  • After beating Blackpool, Leeds, West Ham and Brighton in the past few weeks, Reading are very much the form side going into the game on Friday. But in Lambert, Saints have something Reading don’t. Could be a great game for a neutral! (me)

It is a long shot, but possible. Problem is we talk about Reading having a hard set of fixtures, but they have just beaten Blackpool, Leeds, West Ham and Brighton. They can handle the pressure. We can’t. It’s not over until Big Fat Sam sings.

  • Thumbnail Whoever the New England manager proves to be and whatever squad he subsequently picks will play a hugely significant part in Stuart Pearce’s Team GB squad for the London Olympic Games that begin just 23 days after the Euros have concluded. With Team GB meeting up around two weeks before the opening game of the [...]

  • ThumbnailFootballers are arguably the most divisive of characters with supporters loving and loathing them for a variety of reasons, whether it be their general attitude; an act of betrayal, a rival, or simply a poor challenge – there are many reasons why players get their fair share of grief from the terraces. Obviously when we think [...]

  • It is always nice to see mutual respect between two high flying rivals. The play-off’s are certainly a lottery so any of the four clubs involved will fancy their chances. It is a shame the best Championship season for a long while is coming to an end, but it will do in a thrilling final [...]

  • The Anfield atmosphere is hugely overhyped in my opinion. It seems to be loud for big Champions League games but very little else. The West Ham v Millwall derby is more eagerly anticipated as it doesn’t happen twice a year, every year and so at times it all explodes when they meet. But would have [...]

Thumbnail I am hoping that a slow start to the second half of the season does not disguise what has been a fantastic season for Newcastle United. The Magpies have been in the top seven of the Premier League season pretty much the whole way through and Alan Pardew has built a solid team that includes [...]

ThumbnailLong term injury is possibly the hardest thing a professional footballer can go through, but some players have gone through a lot more than others. With high expectations at a younger age and impressive early displays in their career, this Premier League XI is dedicated to the players that should have been great but never were, [...]

ThumbnailAfter Wayne Rooney was ruled out of at least England’s opening two games of Euro 2012, everyone had their opinion on who should be given the chance to lead the line for their country this summer. However, many fans felt that an out and out goalscorer should be the answer, with Darren Bent the only man [...]

  • Brad Pinard wrote a new blog post: All coming together at Upton Park   3 months ago · View

ThumbnailSolid but unspectacular is how I would describe Sam Allardyce’s time at Upton Park since his summer arrival, but the past month or so has shown every Championship follower the Hammers are beginning to mean serious business in the second half of this campaign. A worrying lack of discipline has got to be the only sour [...]
