"Is all set for the second big game of the week (unless you are a West Ham game – three). No closer to deciding who will go through tonight to meet Chelsea in the final. Bayern or Real? Hmmmm. 45 [...]" · View

ThumbnailThe game needs characters; I accept that, but don’t some players just love their own hype? Football is very pantomime-like at times and for every hero, there is certainly a villain and the boo boys always seem to prioritise time to victimise the following pros but perhaps they deserve the occasional ear bashing. Whether a player [...]

  • ThumbnailWe may unfurl the back pages of the newspaper to find out about a sublime piece of skill, an against the odds triumph or a man of the match performance but most seasons, far too often we experience an uglier side to the game and a so-called darker side. The English league campaign is an enduring [...]

  • ThumbnailIf you dust off the history books or simply tune into The Premiership Years during those long summer evenings, you will see great goals, former heroes and the dodgy haircuts of yesteryear. However, what else you will find are the names of some of the personnel that make you cringe with embarrassment. Yes, those players whom [...]

ThumbnailEver needed that added boost’; that spark or injection to see your team over the line in a tight affair? Well, we often award ‘man of the match’ performances with champagne but we thought we would applaud the following ten candidates with honourable mentions for their ‘match winning’ abilities across the ninety minutes. Blessed with skill, [...]

  • ThumbnailImpatient fans and club owners beware. There is only five months to go before you can indeed go shopping and spend those big bucks on those players who will turn your next campaign into a memorable one, honest! The recent Lukas Podolski and Arsenal saga serves to suggest that no deal is done until it is [...]

  • ThumbnailWe like to applaud brilliance, yes. Perhaps Peter Crouch’s sublime strike from range against Manchester City this term or that unmistakable Wayne Rooney overhead kick against Manchester City (again!) last time round provide some of the league’s great hits. But with football being more over clichéd, sensationalised and hyped up more than ever before, we have [...]

ThumbnailIf you have got your breath back from an enthralling final day in the Premier League, your pulse might be set racing one final time on Saturday evening! If you are of the Chelsea persuasion, you may be aware of a small, little game in Munich that is occurring. The Champions League final they call it, [...]

  • ThumbnailFor as many precocious and fledgling talents coming through in the Premier League this term, there is as many wily old heads of experience and those battling competitors that continue to struggle on despite being written off in several quarters as calamitous, past it and playing beyond their sell by date. Let’s be honest; football is [...]

  • ThumbnailIn a season whereby both the race for the title and the much coveted fourth position are as tight as ever, we thought it would be fitting to focus on the top ten Premier League players who could cut it at the top end of the table. While most supporters tend to look to the foreign [...]

  • Taylor-Williams wrote a new blog post: What To Do With Reputations In Football?   3 weeks, 1 day ago · View

ThumbnailOver the years we have grown used to some stereotypical truths in the Premier League. We know Arsene Wenger won’t ‘see’ every controversial decision, Fergie will get on the referee’s back when the chips are down, Chelsea and Roman Abramovich have a lower managerial patience threshold than most and Stoke are that rugby team with the [...]

  • Taylor-Williams wrote a new blog post: Arsenal’s Top TEN ‘Transfer Targets’ This Summer   3 weeks, 2 days ago · View

ThumbnailWith Lukas Podolski already in the bag at the start of the week, the signing of the German international has sparked fresh optimism ahead of the 2012/13 campaign for Gunners’ fans. With Arsene Wenger more reserved than most (except for last August!) in dabbling in the transfer market, there is every expectation that the Frenchman is [...]

  • ThumbnailIf you are a supporter of Arsenal, Manchester United or Liverpool, you are obviously accustomed to no less than a club legend leading your club’s challenge every week, but how would the club feel without their wise old guidance around the place? More Arsenal fans than ever before have questioned their old French tactician this term [...]

ThumbnailFor those of you out there who aren’t as familiar with La Liga beyond Barcelona and Real Madrid and don’t have a knowledge of Athletic Bilbao in particularly, the Basque club’s triumph over Manchester United in the Europa League in March served as an eye-opener to their intriguing club policy. Bilbao are pioneers in their so-called [...]

  • Taylor-Williams commented on the blog post Why Arsene Wenger Is Correct In his Stance   3 weeks, 2 days ago · View

Very valid point chris. I just think Wenger got caught in the buzz with Wilshere that his performances were so far elder and mature than his years that he found it impossible to indeed leave him out. Strange for Wenger who is always a protector of youth however.

ThumbnailHe’s a canny old so and so that Monsieur Wenger. After the Frenchman delved deep into the memory banks to pull out such a memorable gem of a comment this weekend stating ‘They (the Stoke fans) have a relationship with me, but I don’t have one with them’ the Arsenal manager has irked the overtures of [...]

  • ThumbnailNot putting all your eggs in what basket yes, so to speak, but in a game whereby respected qualities such as loyalty, passion and allegiance are meant to prevail, aren’t we being sold a little short by our league’s top pros? Spurs’ Gareth Bale is the latest star to hint at his very own personal ambitions [...]

ThumbnailAs fans we have a pretty good idea about our club and indeed the playing staff that represent us every week. As you know, these days clubs have to submit 25-man squad lists to the Premier League upon the eve of the season, detailing all the names that are trusted with delivering some sort of target [...]

  • ThumbnailGiven both Luis Suarez’ and Fernando Torres’ exploits in scoring memorable hat tricks this weekend just passed, we thought we would wander down yesteryear and reveal the top ten greatest Premier League hat-tricks over past campaigns. A hat-trick is still lauded as one of the finest accolades a single entity can achieve during the ninety minutes [...]

ThumbnailThis week and last, we have seen a Premier League transfer attack on the Bundesliga with Chelsea’s signature of Marko Marin and Arsenal’s of Lukas Podolski, and these pre-contract imports have provided a statement of intent ahead of the 2012/13 campaign. But with the transfer window set to open proper later this month, just how familiar [...]

  • Taylor-Williams commented on the blog post Players should be more respectful to the clubs that moulded them   3 weeks, 4 days ago · View

I really agree with you. Idle talk hinting of a potential move elsewhere is so petty when players such as him and Modric should have their eye on the current season and moving towards their distinct target of CL qualification
