In a very admirable gesture, the Norwich City squad has announced that they will be pooling together to reimburse the fans who travelled 612 miles to watch their side lose to Swansea last week.
The Canaries were beaten 3-0 in Wales on Saturday, and the players admitted to feeling sympathetic towards the supporters after the bad performance.
The Canaries stars have agreed to refund the admission price of £20 per adult plus a £10 concession fee for each of the 899 Norwich fans who made the trip. The club are calling the gesture a “special one-off thank-you to the Yellow Army for their fantastic support home and away this season.”
Russell Martin, the club’s captain, told Norwich’s official website:
“Our fans have been brilliant home and away this season and the numbers we get on the road are really impressive when you consider how far they have to travel up and down the country from Norfolk.
“All the lads really felt for the fans at the end of Saturday’s game, with most of them facing something like a six-hour drive home. Hopefully this will help them with the cost of travelling to our next away game at Fulham”.
We at Football FanCast salute the Norwich players for the gesture.
