The Premier League is home to some of the most talented stars in world football, and each summer the division continues to attract a host of household names from the biggest leagues in Europe, and further afield.

The summer just gone saw a number of stars make their way across to England, including Granit Xhaka who signed for Arsenal in a deal worth in excess of £30million; Leroy Sane - the talented young German attacker - who arrived at Manchester City for a whopping £37million; as well as £89million world-record-breaker Paul Pogba, who swapped Juventus for Man United and Jose Mourinho after months of speculation.

A number of high-profile strikers were also added to the Premier League's already impressive attacking roster this summer. Incoming Borja Baston, Lucas Perez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will make this year's race for the Golden Boot an exciting one to say the least.

Who will take home the coveted award this year? We aren't willing to place our bets just yet, but the likelihood is it will be one of this TEN though as FFC counts down its top Premier League strikers...

10) Islam Slimani

Islam Slimani

While the new kid on the block hasn't had a chance to flaunt his stuff in the league just yet, Slimani arrives at Leicester City boasting an impressive goalscoring record that stretches over eight seasons, with 100 goals in total during his spells in Algeria and Portugal. The Algerian came into his own last season at Sporting CP where he bagged 31 in all competitions.

9) Abel Hernandez

Derby County v Hull City - Sky Bet Football League Championship Play-Off Semi Final First Leg

If 13-man Hull really are to stay up this season, they will be relying heavily upon this guy to score some goals. 22 last season was an impressive return, and Hernandez has continued in the same form thus far notching one (perhaps two, depending on how you viewed that goal against Leicester) so far as Hull sit comfortably on six points from a possible nine. Hernandez also has a decent record of scoring for Uruguay, with 11 in 27 appearances.

8) Kelechi Iheanacho

Kelechi Iheanacho (centre)

Even though the youngster has had limited time to prove his worth in a Manchester City shirt, in the short time he has spent on the pitch he has been beyond excellent. 14 goals in all competitions last season, almost all exclusively from the bench, left him with the best goals-to-minutes ratio in Europe. Man City will be hoping he can repeat that kind of scoring form against Man United this weekend in the absence of the suspended Sergio Aguero.

7) Harry Kane

Kane8

You may question why last season's Golden Boot winner is not higher on this list. Yes, Kane has scored nearly 60 goals in his last two seasons which is a very impressive return no doubt. And yes, he has been the best striker in the league for the past two seasons. However, ability wise, Kane still has more to offer - which is can only be a good thing considering he is still only 23.

6) Michy Batshuayi

Chelsea's new man has got off to a flying start for his new club, having notched three times already for the Blues in what has been a terrific start to the season for Antonio Conte's men. 83 career goals at only 22 is impressive and the talented youngster should expect to add to that tally this campaign.

5) Wilfried Bony

Bony

I always felt sorry for Wilfried Bony during his time at Manchester City. Having been unbelievable at Swansea for the first 18 months of his Premier League career, he then became a benchwarmer at the Etihad Stadium. However, his loan move to Stoke will do him good and hopefully he will rediscover the form that set the league alight only a couple of seasons ago. Big and powerful but with a delicate touch and skill to boot, Bony is a textbook centre-forward.

4) Jermain Defoe

Jermain Defoe (2)

145 Premier League goals leave Jermain Defoe in notable company near the top end of the all-time top scorers' list. The Englishman sits above the likes of Robin van Persie, Dwight Yorke and Didier Drogba, and just behind Teddy Sheringham and Michael Owen. Defoe continues to show his killer striking instinct at Sunderland, so a few more goals this season should take him well past the 150 mark. Name a better out-and-out finisher in the Premier League, I dare you.

3) Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Ibra swed

Of course, the impregnable Zlatan had to make this list somewhere, so here he sits nicely in the number three spot. Capable of doing things with the ball that are almost unimaginable to some, the enigmatic Swede is the stuff folklore is made of, and United fans will be hoping his individual brilliance can guide them to Premier League glory this season.

2) Diego Costa

Diego Costa

Not only is Diego Costa a brilliant goalscorer, but he is also a fantastic team player and the engine on which Chelsea heavily rely. Without a doubt, the mean-mugged striker does go over the top on the occasion, but that is part of what makes him so brilliant. His desire to win at all costs combined with his technical ability make him a special player and one that Chelsea should hold onto desperately.

1) Sergio Aguero

Aguero

The best striker in the Premier League at the moment is an easy one to choose. The difficult decision comes when asked if he is the best of all time. Sergio Aguero: born to score goals. The little Argentine has absolutely everything to his game; strength, pace, control, skill, aerial ability and more. He already has 105 Premier League goals to his name, so it scary to think how many more he could have had if he stayed injury free throughout his career. A City and Premier League legend.
