January’s transfer Deadline Day was a damp squib this year. The Premier League, as a whole, made a £13m profit – the first time the division’s 20 clubs have ended a window in the black – so it’s no surprise that there was little to shout about in the closing hours (other than Jim White and his awful tie) of the day, but Liverpool fans were kept somewhat gripped by Mamadou Sakho’s loan move to Crystal Palace.

Although not an exciting transfer for outside viewers, the Frenchman has developed cult hero status at Anfield, so many were sad to see him go – as our poll showed. The move may only be a loan one, but with Sakho having not even been a matchday squad during the opening half of the campaign, it seems like the summer fall-out between the 26-year-old and his German boss has rendered a return impossible.

But has it? Well, speaking on Thursday (via ESPN) Klopp left the door seemingly ajar for the defender’s comeback at the end of the season:

"Who knows what [happens] in half a year? We felt already what changed in one month, so there's another five to go.

"I think he should concentrate on the job at Crystal Palace, we should concentrate on what we are doing here.

"In this moment, he is on loan and that means he still has a contract at Liverpool. That's not the thing we talk or think about in this moment, so that's a good thing.

"That's a solution for the moment and we can wait for new impressions and then see what happens. That's nothing I think in this moment about."

This is enough to suggest that the former Paris Saint-Germain man may strut his stuff on Merseyside once again, it seems. With that in mind, should Sakho have another chance at Liverpool? Let us know below…
