It wasn't the most fantastic of matches or the most fantastic of performances, but it was undoubtedly a fantastic point for Sunderland last night as title-chasing Tottenham Hotspur failed to get past the Black Cats' rearguard.

The 90 minutes saw David Moyes' side create just two chances and produce a paltry three efforts at goal, but for what Sunderland lacked going forward, they undoubtedly made up for in defence - strangling the potency out of a Spurs side that had previously failed to score just twice in the Premier League this season.

Whilst Lamine Kone picked up the lion's share of praise on Match of the Day, the statistics point to a different hero of the evening - hardworking right-back Billy Jones. The former West Brom man has never been the most fashionable of footballers and certainly has his fair share of critics, but that's inadvertently made him a bit of an unsung hero at the Stadium of Light - and his performance last night certainly paid testament to that.

As our infographic shows, the 6 foot defender was one of Sunderland's busiest players last night in his right wing-back role, completing six clearances, three tackles, two interceptions, two blocks and winning four aerial duels. But perhaps more significantly, he also tried to make a difference going forward - despite Moyes' overtly defensive set-up - conjuring up one of the two chances Sunderland made.
