As weeks go, Manchester United are just embarking on a big one. The Red Devils eased past Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup to reach the last eight, ahead of an EFL Cup final outing against Southampton on Sunday, but before that, they face Saint-Etienne in the Europa League.

A 3-0 win at Old Trafford makes their last 32 second leg trip to France less of an obstacle than it could have been, though Jose Mourinho will still have to pick a strong team against good Ligue 1 opposition, with the tie not yet over.

So, Marcus Rashford’s goalscoring outing vs. Blackburn was ideally timed for the Portuguese tactician, who surely has to give him a go vs. Les Verts.

The 19-year-old striker looked dangerous against the Championship side at Ewood Park, netting the vital equalising goal, which was one of two shots he fired, showing his ruthless edge. Rashford was also a threat with the ball at his feet with four successful dribbles – the joint-most of any player on the pitch – while his 50 touches show how involved he was before being withdrawn with a few minutes to play.

The young striker needs minutes and Mourinho will have to rotate his team to boost his chances of having a trophy in the cabinet this time next week.
