The 20-year-old has been offered a new contract at Forest by boss Billy Davies, in an attempt to keep him at the City Ground for longer. But the Premier League duo are ready to test Lascelles’ desire to play in the Premier League, after scouting the youngster.
Chief Arsenal scout Steve Rowley watched Lascelles play against Bolton on the weekend, as they continue their interest in the defender, first shown when he was just 16-years-old. The Gunners are ready to pay £3million for the 20-year-old, in a deal that would increase based on appearances.
However, Newcastle are rumoured to have made a bigger offer, while Forest want the deal to involve an immediate loan back, allowing Lascelles to finish the season at the Championship club.
Lascelles has made three appearances for England’s youth teams, completing is one and only appearance for the Under-20s last summer in a 2-2 draw with Iraq’s Under-20s. The youngster could join fellow future English defenders Keiran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson, should the Gunners increase their offer.
