Arsenal’s chief executive Ivan Gazidis, has made fun of Gareth Bale’s transfer to Real Madrid, according to the Daily Star.

At the Arsenal AGM meeting yesterday, Gazidis stated that Spurs had sold their best player to one of Arsenal’s top rivals and that they will find it hard to break into the top four.

“Unfortunately he [Gareth Bale] doesn't play for Tottenham Hotspur," he said.

"He now plays for one of our rivals."

Arsenal who currently sit on top of the Premier League, haven’t finished below Tottenham since the 1994/95 season when Chris Armstrong and Jürgen Klinsmann were banging in goals for Spurs.

But the heartache of losing out on Champions League football for the last two seasons will be in the mind of every Tottenham fan, and with the signings of Erik Lamela, Cristian Eriksen, Paulinho, Nacer Chadli, Roberto Soldado, Vlad Chiriches and Étienne Capoue, Spurs are hoping that this can be their Champions League season.
