Pre-season is almost over and Premier League teams have enjoyed mixed fortunes home and abroad over the last couple of months.

The friendlies over the summer are a chance for managers to work out their best starting elevens, build up players' fitness and work on getting new players to adapt to new systems.

But it also presents an opportunity for the clubs' younger players to impress and force their way into the first-team set up for the season ahead.

Plenty of top talent have already impressed this summer, but who have impressed the most?

The first of these players is Everton youngster Brendan Galloway, who was deployed at left-back in Singapore against Stoke.

The former MK Dons player made his Premier League debut for the Toffees against West Ham last season and has shown some real promise this pre-season.

He has put in some great displays, showing great presence in attack and defence. Galloway is also able to play at centre back too, and could well feature a fair bit for the Toffees next season.

Man City look keen to let good young English talent flourish this coming season with the signings of Patrick Roberts from Fulham and Raheem Sterling from Liverpool.

However, there is another youngster on their books by the name of Brandon Barker who has impressed this pre-season. He netted a goal in a behind closed doors game against Adelaide before coming on and impressing against Roma for 45 minutes, catching the eye with a classy bit of Zidane style skill.

Another Manchester-based talent,  this time in the red half of Manchester - Jesse Lingard. He was England's hero against Sweden for the U21s this summer and the winger's next aim will be to force his way into Louis van Gaal's side.

He has fierce competition from the likes of Memphis Depay and Angel Di Maria, but netting a goal against Real Madrid won't have gone unnoticed and he'll will be hoping that may be enough to be given a chance.

Meanwhile, someone who will be hoping to force his way in to Arsenal's first team side is young forward Chuba Akpom. The 19-year-old has yet to score a competitive goal for the Gunners, but he showed his huge potential by scoring a hat-trick against a Singapore select XI earlier this month.

Although the opposition wasn't of a high standard, his goals would have caught Gunners boss Arsene Wenger's eye and his hopes of forcing his way in to the Frenchman's plans are better for it.

Lastly, a player who has already made an impression in the first team at his club is Liverpool's Jordon Ibe, who returned early from a loan spell at Derby to impress on Merseyside last term.

Ibe will surely be in Reds boss Brendan Rodgers' plans for the upcoming season after signing a long term deal at Anfield in May, and an impressive display against Adelaide United would have caught Rodgers' eye.

With the bags of potential the winger has it will only be a matter of time until he is a regular for the Reds.

These players will all surely be big stars in the Premier League next season, they just need to keep on impressing when they get the chance.
