Sometimes the least likely situation to happen does occasionally occur and it's usually in football.

The sport is littered with clubs and players all swearing allegiance to the cause or playing mind games by not letting certain clubs sign certain players.

However, in an age where there is more money floating around than ever before, money talks and players agents talk faster.

Already this summer, certain transfers are out of the question, as players will apparently not be sold. In the past day or so Dimitri Payet has told the world that he is staying put at West Ham, but there are other players that have remained tight lipped over their futures.

The clubs have said no, but in a world of player power, unlikely looking deals could become reality and as the fans see their heroes leave swiftly in the back of an executive car, the fans hurt pride and feelings of anger are turned toward a sheepish looking club.

Here are four transfers that could still materialise...

Alexis Sanchez

Hull City v Arsenal - Barclays Premier League

Sanchez has received treatment throughout his summer for an ankle injury sustained while on international duty at the Copa America Centenario with Chile and there are suggestions that the forward has been linked with a move to Juventus.

Ancelotti at Bayern Munich is also a fan and it seems as though Sanchez could replace his fellow countryman, Arturo Vidal. Back at the end of April, Sanches stormed out of the Emirates Stadium after being substituted by manager Arsene Wenger with doubts arising over the forward’s proposed contract extension after infuriating both his manager and his teammates.

The Frenchman was said to be unhappy with Sanchez’s reaction. The clash raised further tensions between the 27-year-old and the rest of the Arsenal players, who have already been annoyed by Sanchez after he criticised their desire earlier in the season for falling away in the battle for the Premier League title.

The forward still has two years left to run on his contract and has been in talks to extend his deal while raising his wages to £160,000-a-week, but that agreement could now be in doubt.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Will be on his way out much to the astonishment of Stoke City fans.

Mark Hughes will fight tooth and nail to keep him, but the Swiss international, who has been a bit hit and miss, will exit the Premier League after just one season.

The forward is attracting interest from Thomas Tuchel's Borussia Dortmund and a move to the Bundesliga is on the cards. Shaqiri only joined Stoke last summer from Inter Milan, and played well in fits and starts for the Potters in his debut campaign.

However, BVB are very close to signing Wolfsburg's Andre Schurrle and Bayern's Mario Gotze and see Shaqiri as another piece to their puzzle.

Vincent Kompany

Manchester City v CSKA Moscow - UEFA Champions League Group Stage Matchday Four Group E

As good as he is, everyone knows that his injury record is not good and no one will know this more than new City Boss Pep Guardiola.

Can the Spaniard rely on the defender to be able to see out a whole season including a tough European campaign. It is unlikely. Turkish champions Besiktas are boldly pursuing a potential deal to sign Manchester City club captain Vincent Kompany, according to Fanatik.

Besiktas president Fikret Orman is said to be monitoring the situation and meetings are even reported to have taken place at board level. The Champions League side believe they can sign Kompany for £25m, but will have to contend with his £130,000-a-week wage demands too.

Kompany's long term replacement, John Stones, is already on his way to the Etihad.

Despite what's been said, this isn't over. Whether it was a dodgy fax machine, or incompetence on the part of either Manchester United or Real Madrid we may never know, but the fact is De Gea was seconds away from moving to the Santiago Bernabeu last September.

Although the 25-year-old has since signed a new contract at Old Trafford, the Spanish giants could well come calling again this summer.

De Gea has long craved a move back to Madrid, both to boost his chances of becoming his county’s number one and be closer to his girlfriend Edurne Garcia, and United’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League may see his dream move to La Liga happen sooner rather than later.
