The Mirror.

The Polish hit-man has been on the radars of Europe’s top clubs for some time, following his fantastic displays in the Bundesliga.

Despite being a key man at Dortmund, he is ready to allow his contract – which expires at the end of the season – to run down in order to leave for free.

It was widely expected that a pre-contract agreement with Bayern Munich was in place, but the 25-year-old has claimed that there is no such agreement.

This has alerted City and Arsenal, who are both keen to lure him to the Premier League.

Despite being just months from the end of his contract, it’s likely that Lewandowski will still cost upwards of £20m, but it is believed that the English duo are prepared to pay such a figure for his services.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini is thought to be open to adding another forward to his side, despite having a wealth of options.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger’s top priority for January is a world class centre-forward – criteria that Lewandowski meets.
