Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud has admitted Bayern Munich were looking at acquiring his services before his move to the Emirates.
Having impressed with Montpellier in Ligue 1 last season, when he finished as the league’s top goalscorer that term, Giroud was being linked with some of the top teams in Europe.
The France international has admitted Bayern spoke to his agent before the Bundesliga champions decided to go for Mario Mandzukic, after the Croatia striker enjoyed a fine Euro 2012 campaign.
When asked if the German giants had spoken with him, Giroud told The Sun: “Not directly but my agent was and it was validated by Bayern.
“They wanted time to watch the Euros and Mandzukic had a good tournament.
“The fact I was wooed by Arsenal is good. I’m very happy here. English football is what I hoped for.”
