Santi Cazorla wants Spain team-mate Iker Casillas to turn his back on Real Madrid and join him at Arsenal.
The experienced goalkeeper’s future is currently the subject of much doubt after he lost his spot as Los Blancos’ number one last season.
Casillas has since shown a willingness to re-establish himself at the Bernabeu, but the form of Diego Lopez has prevented him from doing so.
Arsenal are one of a number of clubs to have been linked with the 32-year-old as a result of his problems, with Arsene Wenger rumoured to see him as a top level replacement for the inconsistent Wojciech Szczesny.
The stopper is said to be ready to call time on his spell at Real if his situation remains as it is, and Cazorla wants him to choose the Emirates Stadium to be his new home:
“I’ve told Iker I would like him to join Arsenal. His situation is very difficult but he has to make a decision.” He is quoted by The Metro.
“Lots of clubs want him, including Arsenal.”
Despite his lack of playing time, Casillas is still seen as one of the World’s very best stoppers, after helping Spain to two European Championships and the World Cup.
