Arsene Wenger has rubbished reports that the Gunners are considering a move for Southampton striker Rickie Lambert, according to talkSPORT.
Arsenal have been linked with a host of strikers this month, with Wenger desperate to add back up for main man Olivier Giroud.
The Frenchman has only been supported by Nicklas Bendtner for the first half of the season, and with Theo Walcott injured again for the remainder of the season, Wenger has found himself under pressure to enter the transfer market.
Some reports had suggested the Gunners boss was looking at a deal to bring 31-year-old England international Rickie Lambert to the Emirates to provide back up for Giroud.
Lambert has also been linked with a move to West Ham this month, but Wenger has rubbished the reports that he could be on his way to the Emirates.
Speaking ahead of his side’s clash with the Saints at St Mary’s on Tuesday, Wenger said of the England forward: “We had a look at him in the Championship, but no interest [now].”
Gunners fans are still hopeful the club can add reinforcements before Friday’s transfer deadline, with German wonderkid Julian Draxler the name most heavily linked.
