The two managers has a mini spat in the build-up to the weekend’s fixtures which resulted in the Portuguese coach referring to his opposite number at the Emirates Stadium as a “specialist in failure”.
The comment came after a range of other controversial remarks from Mourinho, who has been critical of Manchester City’s spending, cited Liverpool’s lack of European football as an advantage in their title push and labelled his expensively-assemble squad as one unable to fight for the Premier League.
Wenger took his chance to respond to the Blues boss after his side’s 2-1 FA Cup win over Liverpool, and hit out at his recent statements:
“I do not want to go into that – those were silly, disrespectful remarks,” he is quoted by The Metro.
“I never spoke about him in my press conference. I know one thing, it is more embarrassing for Chelsea than it is for me.”
Arsenal will face Everton in the FA Cup quarter-final while Chelsea’s name will not dominate the fixture list for the next round as they were eliminated by Manchester City on Saturday.
