Arsene Wenger is well aware of the threat Napoli pose his Arsenal side ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash, and has highlighted Lorenzo Insigne’s ‘interesting potential’, according to the Daily Star.
Both teams head into tonight’s game on the back of opening Champions League victories in Group F, while both played each other as recently as August, in the pre-season Emirates Cup.
And Wenger insists he learnt a lot from their pre season meeting, pinpointing Insigne as the man to watch for the Gunners.
“He [Insigne] is mobile, he is not tall but quick and very good in the transition from defence to attack,” Wenger said.
“He is a good dribbler as well and is an intelligent mover.
“That makes him an interesting prospect.
“That’s what struck me as well in the Emirates Cup – when they win the ball they come out very quickly with Callejon, Hamsik, Insigne and Higuain, [who] come out like bombs all the time they win the ball.
“The transition from our side from offense to defence will have to be very quick.”
Wenger is aware of what a tough game it will be against Rafael Benitez’s side, especially following the manner in which they beat last year’s finalists Borussia Dortmund in their opening game.
“They had a surprising result for many people because Dortmund reached the final last year in a very emphatic way,” he added.
“To beat them certainly is something special and that will lift their confidence. We know from the Emirates Cup that they are a good side but we know as well that when you want to qualify then home games are vital.”
