Arsenal are closing in on a summer deal for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Sebastian Jung, according to the player’s agent.
The 23-year-old German – who is yet to win an international cap but has been included in his nation’s squad in the past – is seen as one of the Bundesliga’s best young full-backs, and has been attracting attention from Arsene Wenger for a while.
With Bacary Sagna looking likely to leave the Emirates Stadium when his contract expires at the end of the season, the Frenchman is already gearing up to find a replacement.
Feyenoord’s Daryl Janmaat has been mooted as the top target, but now it has emerged that Jung is indeed the man on Arsenal’s radar:
“In England we know Arsenal are very strongly on his trail for the summer,” Jung’s agent Mino Grillo is quoted by The Metro.
“They have had scouts watching him in the Bundesliga. There is was interest in the past from Inter, Roma and Milan, but no recent contact.”
A £7m swoop is being mooted in Germany, with some suggesting that a deal is close to being tied up once the coming transfer window opens.
Jung has been capped at U-21 international level, and is being tipped by some to break into the senior squad in the future.
