Arsene Wenger is still hopeful of completing three more signings before the end of transfer window next Monday, with the Express claiming he’s ready to sanction a further £28million spending spree.
The Arsenal boss is expected to reignite his interest in Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, who was left out of their recent Super Cup clash with rivals Ateltico Madrid despite boss Carlo Ancelotti insisting he is going no where this summer.
Wenger has been linked with a move for the German international all summer and believes he could get his man for as little as £12m due to him having just one year left on his Berabeau contract.
Wenger is also hoping to tempt Paris Saint-Germain’s France U21 midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who could be available for a cut-price fee of £9.5m, although the French giants were demanding £24m towards the end of last season.
And the Emirates chief is also exploring the possibility of signing Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld, with the 25-year-old reportedly told he can leave the club by manager Diego Simeone for a fee believed to be around £6m.
Wenger has been left short in defence this summer, with Carl Jenkinson joining West Ham on loan, Joahn Djourou signing for Hamburg and former club captain Thomas Vermaelen completing a permanent switch to Barcelona.
