As reported in an exclusive by The Daily Star, Arsenal face a big battle to sign Porto's red hot striker Andre Silva with Real Madrid now entering the chase to sign him.

What's the story?

Andre Silva is one of Europe's hottest striking properties, with many supporters across Europe wanting to see the Porto striker end up at their club.

The Daily Star reckon Arsenal are very interested in making those dreams a reality for Arsenal supporters but now face an uphill battle to get their man.

Real Madrid have joined the fray to try and secure his signature and have indicated to Porto they are willing to bid big in the summer when their incoming transfer ban expires, say the paper.

The competition could make any potential fee for the striker rise from £20m to £50m according to The Star, potentially knocking Arsenal out of contention for his signature.

Worth the fuss?

At the age of just 21, Andre Silva is the second top scorer in the Portuguese top flight this term with 10 league goals in 16 appearances for Porto. With another 4 in this season's UEFA Champions League, it's clear that Silva has what it takes to be an exceptional striker.

The young striker scored 2 of those European goals against Leicester, showing he has what it takes to compete against the Premier League style.

He's making an impact at international level too, already scoring 4 goals in World Cup 2018 Qualification for Portugal.

With Alexis Sanchez having still not committed his future to the Gunners, a move for Silva could be seen as long-term solution to that problem given the young striker's progress.

In that sense, the reported £50m fee could end up being good business in a market where fees continue to balloon massively.
