The La Liga high-flyers are in the market for a new goalkeeper, with Thibaut Courtiois likely to return to Chelsea after spending three seasons on loan.
Sources in France claim Arsene Wenger is ready to head into the transfer market for a new goalkeeper, following Woijech Szczesny’s performance against Bayern Munich.
The 23-year-old is set to be reprimanded by the Gunners for making an offensive gesture following his first half red card in the Champions League tie a fortnight ago.
It means Wenger may be on the lookout for a new number one, and Mandana is reportedly on his shortlist.
But the Gunners will face competition from Atletico, who have been told directly they have no chance of signing Belgian shot-stopper Courtois on a permanent deal.
Jose Mourinho recently reiterated Courtois will be given the chance to challenge Petr Cech for the number one shirt at Stamford Bridge next season.
“I don’t think he will be loaned out. We don’t struggle to keep him because he has two more years on his contract.
“I don’t need to give any assurances to any player.
“A player that has a contract with Chelsea has a contract with Chelsea.
“Chelsea has Petr Cech, Courtois and Schwarzer. We are in a good condition.”
