Arsenal are keen on sealing a summer deal for AC Milan midfielder Ricardo Montolivo, according to the player’s agent.
The Italian international has been one of the few bright sparks in a tough season at the San Siro, but rumours have begun to circulate of late that he could be on the move once the campaign ends.
A skilful ball-playing midfielder, Montolivo has long been hailed as one of Serie A’s finest talents – which has been reflected by Milan’s decision to award him club captaincy.
The 29-year-old is happy at his current side, but his agent, Giovanni Branchini, says that Arsenal are one of a number of clubs to have made approaches to discuss a deal:
“Has there been interest from other clubs? There have been tentative enquiries from Atletico Madrid, [Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen] Klopp and Arsenal, to name a few.” He is quoted by The Express.
“All were trying to ascertain whether the ‘path’ to Montolivo was feasible.
“At the moment, however, I feel it would be very difficult for the player to leave Milan
Despite possessing a wealth of midfield talent, Arsene Wenger is thought to be keen to bolster his central options this summer.
