Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is hoping to bring Barcelona winger Isaac Cuenca to the Emirates on loan according to the Express.

Wenger has been a long term admirer of the 21-year-old who is yet to play for the Spanish league leaders this season due to a knee injury.

Now fully fit, Cuenca has struggled to get any first team game time due to the talent in the Barcelona ranks and the importance of recent games.

The Spanish under 21 international will almost certainly be allowed to leave on loan this month and Arsenal’s relationship with the Catalan club could work in Wenger’s favour.

With Theo Walcott now seemingly to be used as a central striker, the Gunners boss wants more competition for his wide positions to attack the gruelling second half of the season that includes a battle for the top four along with both the Champions League and the FA Cup.
