Arsenal are set to up their interest in Montpellier playmaker Younes Belhanda’s signature, after the player declared that he is looking to move on.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a transfer in recent months, with Tottenham, Fenerbahce and Inter Milan all believed to be interested.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who is said to be keen to strengthen his squad this summer, is also interested and could be successful in his pursuit of the 23-year-old who admitted that he wants to challenge for top honours:

“My dream is to play for a Champions League club.” He is quoted by talkSPORT.

“I am a born competitor and in countries like England, Spain and Italy, there are big clubs that I would like to play one day.”

Belhanda was instrumental in Montpellier’s Ligue 1 victory last season, winning France’s young player of the year award in the process.

Since their championship victory a number of the club’s star names have left, including Olivier Giroud and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.

Belhanda formed a successful partnership with now Arsenal front-man Giroud, which could tempt Wenger who is keen to help the Frenchman overcome his drop in form.
