Arsenal have launched a final £24.7m move for Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The Gunners have been watching the German starlet for some time, and are said to have been in discussions with his club for a January deal over the course of the last week.
However, the two sides are believed to be some way apart in their valuations of the 20-year-old, with the Bundesliga outfit convinced that he is worth close to his £37m release clause.
Arsenal on the other hand value him at around half of that figure, and have been exploring the possibility of sending Lukas Podolski in the opposite direction as a sweetener.
However, Arsene Wenger has upped his offer in a bid to push through a deal before Friday’s deadline.
Reports suggest that the North London club have put a final £24.7m on the table in the hope that Schalke reluctantly accept.
Draxler himself is believed to be keen to make the move, and had previously declared an intent to play for one of Europe’s top clubs.
Wenger sees the playmaker as an ideal addition as he looks to cope without Theo Walcott for the remainder of the season.
